Application
Field :
The Fabric of a specified length
is exposed to Flame for a specified
time and then it is analyzed
for Flammability Test.
Scope :
The Test method covers the evaluation
of the Flammability of Textile
Fabrics as they reach the consumer
for or from apparel other than
children's sleepwear or protective
clothing.
The
standard should be used to measure
and describe the properties
of materials, products, or assemblies
in response to heat and flame
under controlled laboratory
conditions and should not be
used to describe or appraise
the fire hazard or fire risk
of materials, products, or assemblies
under actual fire conditions.
However, results of this Test
may be used as elements of a
fire-risks assessment, which
takes into, account all of the
factors, which are pertinent
to an assessment of the fire
hazard of a particular end use.
The
values stated in SI units are
to be regarded as the standard;
inch-pound units are provided
for information only.
INTRODUCTION
:
In the Digital Flammability
Tester, the Fabric is kept at
45° Angle in a specimen
holder. It is then exposed to
the flame of specified length
from 90° Angle for 1 second,
and is left for burning. The
time taken to burn the Fabric
is automatically recorded no
a Digital Electronic Timer.
Then the grading of the Fabric
for Flammability is done as
per the standards of ASTMD 1230.
EQUIPMENT :
The K.V.S. Digital Flammability
Tester is made of Stainless
Steel with fine acrylic door.
The Panel housing with all the
controls is at lower front portion
of the instrument. The Tester
is supplied with following accessories
